Americans Must Be More Proactive Stakeholders in their Self-Defense

Last month, the attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump marked one of the most egregious acts of political violence in modern American history. While this kind of violence has no place in the United States, it is a chilling reminder that even one of the most protected men in the world can still be a victim to such an attack.

It is no secret that firearms purchases have skyrocketed in recent years. In many cities throughout the country, crime rates are surging while law enforcement resources are stretched thin. This troubling combination is driving many law-abiding citizens to take a more active role in their personal security by arming themselves.

Americans are also coming to the sobering realization that in most cases, they are their own line of last defense. What is key to remember in light of this growing trend, however, is that adequate training and education on firearm use is just as critical. Threats are not alleviated by simply owning a weapon.

Rigorous and continuous training is key to being a proactive stakeholder in your own self-defense and is vital for ensuring that individuals are not only armed to protect themselves with the right equipment, but also with the right knowledge. Just as important as owning a firearm is knowing how to properly use it. Being proactive and knowledgeable in practicing self-defense can be the difference between life or death for yourself and the ones you love. After all, the primary responsibility for our safety ultimately rests with us.

Firearms News: Med School Researchers Conclude Gun Control Has No Impact On Homicide Rates

July 31, 2024

Gun control laws have no impact on homicide rates. Those in the gun rights community have always known that. Now, a recent study led by researchers at the Duke University School of Medicine has substantiated it. The study looked at suicide and homicide rates involving children under the age of 18 for the period of 2009 through 2020. Using mortality data from the CDC and a database of state-level firearms laws maintained by the Rand Corporation, they examined the impact of 36 different gun control laws.

The Truth About Guns: Another Unconstitutional Biden Ban Overturned

July 26, 2024

President Joe Biden’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has taken another shot to the chin over the agency’s propensity to make laws rather than enforce them. On Thursday, a federal judge in Texas overturned the administration’s ban on forced reset triggers, which automatically return to their starting position after being pulled. District Judge Reed O’Connor, who has been front and center in recent decisions to rein in the rogue agency, ruled in the case National Association for Gun Rights v. Garland that ATF overstepped their bounds in classifying guns using forced reseat triggers as “machine guns” under the Gun Control Act of 1968.

The Federalist: If Elected, Kamala Harris Would Be The Most Anti-Gun President In U.S. History

July 31, 2024

John R. Lott, Jr.

Joe Biden is the most activist president ever on gun control, putting thousands of gun dealers out of business by the middle of last year for trivial paperwork mistakes. He used government regulations to “debank” gunmakers and dealers, and those that survived faced higher costs. The Biden administration has also put together a national gun registry. But a President Kamala Harris would be even worse for gun ownership.
