USCCA For Saving Lives Action Fund Highlights Responsible Gun Ownership with “Gun Storage Check Week”

This week, The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the Firearm Industry Trade Association, has launched its annual campaign, Gun Storage Check Week, a nationwide initiative urging gun owners to review and strengthen their firearm storage practices. The U.S. Concealed Carry Association’s (USCCA) For Saving Lives Action Fund is proud to join this effort, reinforcing our shared commitment to ensuring firearms are kept secure and out of the wrong hands.

At the heart of responsible gun ownership is safe storage. Whether through gun safes, lockboxes, or other secure methods, properly storing firearms is the most effective way to prevent unauthorized access—especially by children, teens, or individuals in crisis. It’s a simple yet powerful act that can save lives and prevent tragedies before they occur.

Gun Storage Check Week is more than one week—it’s a reminder of the ongoing responsibility we all bear as gun owners. Safe storage should be a 24/7 commitment, reflecting the core values of our community: accountability, preparedness, and respect for life.

This week, we encourage every gun owner to take a moment to evaluate their storage practices—not only as a means of physical security, but also as a critical step in protecting mental health and preventing avoidable harm. By making secure storage a consistent priority, we can uphold the highest standards of gun ownership and contribute to a safer, more responsible America.

Washington Examiner: Boulder Terrorist Attack Should Be Another Blow To The Gun Control Movement

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) wants you to stop talking about the antisemitic terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, so he can talk about gun control. But the Boulder attack should end the gun control debate for good. … This is all completely irrelevant. The pro-Palestinian terrorist in Boulder did not use a gun, “military-style assault weapon,” or otherwise. He would never have passed any sort of background check because he is an illegal immigrant. “Lax gun laws” have nothing to do with Molotov cocktails. This was a targeted, antisemitic attack from an antisemitic terrorist who has consumed left-wing narratives about Israel and “Palestine.”

Ammoland: ATF Ditches ‘Zero Tolerance,’ Turns Page To New Era

The punishing era of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) “Zero Tolerance” policy is over. Gone are the days of a presidential administration wielding the bureau as a hammer against an industry it politically disfavored. The ATF is returning to its role to combat violent crime and illegal firearm trafficking and assisting the firearm industry to remain in compliance with laws and regulations governing the lawful sale of firearms in the United States. It couldn’t come a moment too soon.

Washington Examiner: Clarence Thomas Blasts Supreme Court For Punting On Legality Of AR-15 Ban

Justice Clarence Thomas blasted the Supreme Court on Monday for declining to take up a case challenging Maryland’s law banning “assault weapons,” which specifically targets the AR-15 firearm. The high court denied a petition to hear a case brought by a pro-gun group to overturn a 2013 Maryland law that outlawed various semiautomatic firearms, labeling them illegal “assault weapons.” A lower appeals court ruled 10-5 to uphold the law, which will remain in effect because the Supreme Court declined to take up the case.
