USCCA-FSL Action Fund To Host Rally In Colorado Highlighting Opposition to Senate Bill 3

On Saturday, February 8th, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association For Saving Lives Action Fund (USCCA FSL Action Fund) will host a press conference and rally at The Gallery Range and Restaurant in Lakewood, Colorado.

The event offers an opportunity for law-abiding Colorado gun owners to make their voices heard as the Colorado legislature seeks to impose restrictions on the buying, selling and manufacturing of select firearms that responsible gun owners use to protect themselves and their families. Senate Bill 3, is rapidly moving through the legislature without input from key stakeholders, including responsible gun owners.

Firearms instructors, lawmakers, and advocates are speaking out about this misguided legislation:

Leland Conway, Rocky Mountain District Manager at Delta Defense:
This legislation is on track to be the most sweeping ban of its kind in the country. The bottom line is Senate Bill 3 makes Coloradoans less safe. There is a better approach to solving the issue at hand, and fast-tracking a bill with no debate or input from law-abiding gun owners is not the answer.

Colorado State Senate Majority Whip Nick Hinrichsen (D):
“I believe that, broadly, semi-automatic firearm ownership, by law-abiding individuals, is protected by the 2nd Amendment,” Hinrichsen writes in a letter defining his position. “Most semi-automatic weapons have detachable magazines. On many semi-automatic firearms, having a detachable magazine is a critical component for proper maintenance and for safety in the event of a misfeed. … However, as the bill is currently introduced, I am a ‘no’ vote.”

Katie Pointer Baney, Managing Director of Government Affairs for the USCCA and Executive Director of the USCCA For Saving Lives Action Fund:
“Millions of Americans rely on certain types of semiautomatic firearms for their self-defense. A blanket ban on these tools puts responsible Coloradans at a disadvantage in protecting themselves and their families. That is why we will be gathering in Colorado to make our voices heard against this unconstitutional government overreach.”

The event will feature USCCA members from across the state, including Conway who will lead the event. Other prominent voices at the event include Gallery owner David Grasso and Ian Escalante, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. Elected officials including Colorado State Senate Majority Whip Nick Hinrichsen (D) and Former State Senator Greg Brophy (R) will also be in attendance. Talk radio hosts Ross Kaminsky and Jeff Hunt will be on-site to interview concerned citizens about the implications of the bill.

By attending this event, and encouraging other 2A advocates to attend, Coloradans can make clear that they prioritize defending the Second Amendment from state-sponsored gun grabs.
