USCCA-FSL Action Fund Mobilizes Against SB 003 in Colorado
Activation Demonstrates Need for Readiness Nationwide to Advocate for Self-Defense Rights
As the Colorado legislature moves forward with a dangerous gun grab and prepares to hear floor debate this week on Senate Bill 003, a measure that would ban the manufacture and sale of semi-automatic firearms, responsible gun owners throughout Colorado joined together to amplify opposition to the measure that further restricts Second Amendment rights of all Coloradoans. With millions of Americans relying on certain types of semiautomatic firearms for their safety and self-defense, a blanket ban on these tools puts responsible Coloradans at a disadvantage in defending themselves and their families.
Held at The Gallery Shooting Range in Lakewood, Colorado, more than 80 law-abiding gun owners gathered last weekend to make their voices heard about the dangers of SB 003. The event was headlined by lawmakers, activists, and firearms instructors alike, including Delta Defense’s Rocky Mountain District Manager Leland Conway and Gallery owner David Grasso. Elected officials including former State Senator Greg Brophy (R) also appeared alongside Ian Escalante, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners.
News from the event made headlines both nationally and in Colorado.
CBS News: “Coloradans rallied Saturday in opposition to Senate Bill 3, which is currently moving through the legislature. The bill would restrict the manufacture and distribution of certain semi-automatic weapons in Colorado.”
KRDO (Lakewood, CO): “The U.S. Concealed Carry Association For Saving Lives Action Fund (USCCA FSL Action Fund) is speaking out against a Colorado bill working through the legislature to restrict semi-automatic firearms.”
Anti-gun legislators will continue to pursue legislation that restricts Second Amendment rights in states across the country this year, especially with pro-gun legislators holding power in Washington, D.C. Law-abiding gun owners must be willing and able to quickly mobilize at the state level and advocate for the fundamental right to self-defense to ensure that we safeguard these rights for future generations.

The Hill: Guns Are Not Just For Conservative White Men
In the wake of President Trump’s election in November 2024, one of my healthcare providers, who lives with her female partner, purchased a 9mm pistol for home protection. She is not alone. Several reporters have reached out to me to discuss the post-election surge in gun ownership in the LGBTQ community. Some political leftists in my area have formed a mutual-aid group that includes sharing gun-buying information, tips on concealed carry courses to take (and avoid), and trips to the gun range to practice shooting.
The Washington Times: Trump Orders Government To Determine Where Biden-Era Directives Encroached On Gun Rights
President Trump on Friday signed an executive order directing all federal agencies to determine if Biden administration directives infringed on Americans’ gun rights. The order directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to oversee the review and offer a plan of action aimed at protecting Second Amendment rights. She must commence the review within 30 days. “Because [the Second Amendment] is foundational to maintaining all other rights held by Americans, the right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed,” the order said.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday, Feb. 7, directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to review and potentially roll back gun control measures implemented by the Biden administration. Buckeye Firearms Association: Federal Judge: Machine Gun Ban Is Unconstitutional
A federal district court Judge from Mississippi has ruled that the federal prohibition banning private ownership of machine guns made after April 1986 violates Second Amendment protections of the U.S. Constitution. In 1986, the Hughes Amendment was added to the Gun Owners Protection Act (GOPA) as a poison pill. A poison pill is an amendment added to a bill to guarantee failure, but in the case of the GOPA, the bill passed with the poison pill attached. The Hughes Amendment closed the National Firearms Act (NFA) registry for new machine guns. It amended 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(o) and 924(a)(2) of the federal statute.
