USCCA Action Fund Statement on House Judiciary Markup of Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill

Bill to Enable Reciprocity for Gun Owners Nationwide Advances in the U.S. House of Representatives

West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA)’s For Saving Lives Action Fund released the following statement on lawmakers in the U.S. House Judiciary Committee completing a markup of H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. For years, responsible gun owners have faced a patchwork of laws that differ from state to state, creating confusion and hindering their ability to exercise their constitutional rights when traveling across state lines. H.R. 38 aims to rectify this by ensuring that concealed carry permits are recognized nationwide, just as a driver’s license or marriage certificate is honored across state borders.

We are closer than ever to achieving concealed carry reciprocity, ensuring that responsible gun owners have the right to defend themselves and their families, regardless of where they live or travel,” said Action Fund Executive Director Katie Pointer Baney. “Concealed carry permit holders have undergone background checks and training, and they continue to uphold the law in their communities. Allowing them to carry in any state provides a consistent level of protection for themselves and those around them, no matter where they are.”

“The U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary took an important step toward ensuring that law-abiding, responsible gun owners across the country are able to exercise their Second Amendment rights with greater consistency and fairness. By marking up H.R. 38, we are one step closer to making concealed carry reciprocity a nationwide reality. The Action Fund commends Rep. Richard Hudson (NC-09) for introducing this vital legislation and Chairman Jordan for advancing it through the Judiciary committee,” concluded Pointer Baney.

To date, more than half a million Americans have signed a petition urging their representatives in Washington to prioritize and help pass national reciprocity, demonstrating widespread support for the proposal from gun owners from all walks of life, spanning ideologies, gender and race.
The USCCA, which provides self-defense education and training to more than 860,000 responsible American gun owners nationwide, recently launched a 501(c)(4) organization created with the mission of educating and equipping responsible gun owners to advocate for their Constitutional rights at the state and federal level. The Action Fund successfully mobilized law-abiding gun owners across key battleground states to participate in the democratic process at extraordinary levels, contributing to record-breaking turnout this cycle.
