South Carolina Representative Introduces Two Pro-Gun Bills to Strengthen Second Amendment Rights

Representative Sheri Biggs (SC-03) has introduced two bills aimed at expanding and safeguarding Americans’ Second Amendment freedoms: the Protecting the Mailing of Firearms Act and the No Frivolous Applications for Short-Barreled Shotguns Act.

The Protecting the Mailing of Firearms Act seeks to repeal the federal ban on mailing concealable firearms through the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). This legislation would allow law-abiding Americans who legally buy or sell firearms to ship them safely and securely via USPS, while also preventing future attempts by anti-gun lawmakers to weaponize postal regulations against gun owners.

Meanwhile, the No Frivolous Applications for Short-Barreled Shotguns Act would strike short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) from unnecessary federal regulation under the National Firearms Act. This bill would eliminate costly fees and months-long paperwork, including the $200 tax, making it easier for responsible gun owners to possess practical firearms for self-defense.

These bills represent significant progress in the ongoing effort to protect and expand Second Amendment rights in Washington. Already this session, Rep. Richard Hudson (NC-09) has introduced H.R. 38, the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which would establish nationwide recognition of concealed carry permits—providing clarity and protection for lawful gun owners traveling across state lines.

Additionally, the Trump Administration has begun reviewing potential overreach of Second Amendment rights by the Biden Administration, with the Department of Justice’s civil rights division reportedly shifting its focus to prioritize gun rights.

Gun owners nationwide appreciate Representative Biggs’ dedication to making it easier for responsible individuals to own practical firearms for self-defense. They urge all members of Congress to support this important legislation that protects and expands Americans’ Second Amendment rights and safeguards our Constitutional freedoms.

The Truth About Guns: New Federal Legislation Would Protect Second Amendment, Target Criminals

A new measure introduced by two pro-gun U.S. Senators is crafted to protect lawful American gun owners’ Second Amendment rights while also preventing violent criminals from having access to firearms. Last week, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, introduced the Protecting Communities and Preserving the Second Amendment Act of 2025. The authors say the multi-pronged measure would take concrete steps to improve the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), prosecute gun crime and crack down on cartel-fueled gun trafficking

Washington Examiner: Gun Groups Cheer Suppressor Victory, Eye Larger Wins

Second Amendment advocacy groups on Thursday cheered their win on deregulating gun suppressors, calling it a first step in a broader campaign to dismantle archaic firearm laws. The House-passed budget bill included provisions to eliminate the registration and $200 tax on suppressors. If the provision survives in the Senate version of the “big, beautiful bill” and is signed by President Donald Trump, buyers will only have to pass an FBI background check to purchase one.

Yellowhammer News: AG Marshall Calls On Congress To Pass The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is urging members of Congress to protect Americans’ Second Amendment rights across state lines. Marshall recently sent a multi-state letter calling on the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. The resolution, H.R. 38, would allow those who are lawfully cleared to carry a concealed firearm in their home state to enjoy the same privileges in any other state where concealed carry is legal. “Congress has the power to resolve this issue, and we are calling for immediate action on H.R. 38,” Marshall said.

Buckeye Firearms Association: ATF Pledges Reform, Distances Itself From Biden-Harris Era

A headline on the website of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives appeared late in the day May 21: “ATF Launches New Era of Reform.” According to the accompanying announcement: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is ushering in a new chapter—marked by transparency, accountability, and partnership with the firearms industry. This is not the same ATF of the last four years. We are fundamentally changing course with a renewed focus on rebuilding trust with federal firearms licensees (FFLs), gun owners, and the public by prioritizing public safety and collaboration.
