State Representatives Receive Specialized Training to Carry Concealed Firearms

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association gave a presentation at the Legislative Office Building, with both Republicans and Democrats in attendance.

Experts said lawmakers who carry firearms should always have a plan.

“Any time you choose to carry or choose to be a stakeholder in your own safety and security, you want to have thought about it. You want to have a plan because you will not come up with it, you will fall back on it. And so we wanted to provoke that thought, that conversation,” said Rob Chadwick with the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.

Several lawmakers do carry concealed weapons. House rules currently allow for practice on the House floor.
