USCCA-For Saving Lives Action Fund Statement on Governor Tony Evers’s Creation of a New Office of Violence Prevention
West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association For Saving Lives Action Fund (USCCA-FSL Action Fund), which is supported by the country’s largest, fastest-growing self-defense association representing responsible gun owners, released the following statement on the heels of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ executive order establishing the Wisconsin Office of Violence Prevention (OVP).
“Rather than creating yet another bureaucratic office with the intent to stop all violence, we must better support the brave men and women in law enforcement, and provide them with the resources and tools they need to keep our communities safe,” said Katie Pointer Baney, Executive Director of the USCCA For Saving Lives Action Fund.
“We know that criminals, by definition, do not follow the law, which is why sweeping executive action ultimately only targets law-abiding gun owners, rather than those who commit violent crimes. Thousands of Wisconsinites and USCCA members choose to be their family’s first line of defense by purchasing a firearm and seeking training to protect themselves and their families. We agree that preventing violent crime should transcend politics, and unfortunately, the Governor’s new office seems most interested in pursuing regulations restricting firearm ownership rather than investing in proven mental health resources and school safety initiatives,” Baney concluded.
With over 850,000 members nationwide, the U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) is the largest and fastest-growing association in the country, whose sole focus is providing self-defense education and training to responsible American gun owners. The USCCA for Saving Lives Action Fund – a 501(c)(4) organization – was created in 2023 with the mission of educating and equipping responsible gun owners to advocate for their Constitutional rights.
