USCCA-For Saving Lives Action Fund Statement on New Gallup Poll Showing Surge in Gun Ownership Among Women

New polling data reveals powerful cultural shift in attitudes toward empowerment and personal responsibility in self-defense among women

West Bend, WI – The U.S. Concealed Carry Association For Saving Lives Action Fund (USCCA-FSL Action Fund), which is supported by the country’s largest, fastest-growing self-defense association dedicated to responsible gun owners, issued the following statement on a new Gallup poll on gun ownership rates among Americans. The results reveal gun ownership has spiked among Republican women in particular to 33% in 2019-2024, up from 19% in 2007-2012. This follows a wide-ranging report by the Wall Street Journal in September which noted a rising number of Democrats are purchasing firearms for self-defense as well. 

“At a time when communities across the country continue to grapple with rising crime and public safety challenges, the desire for personal security remains a driving force behind gun ownership. This surge among women reflects a powerful cultural shift in attitudes toward empowerment, personal responsibility, and a clear desire for greater control over their self-defense,” said Katie Pointer Baney, Executive Director of the USCCA For Saving Lives Action Fund.
